Notes From Sunday

For the first time in awhile I took notes at church Sunday morning. I was inspired by the sermon which was pertaining to 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10. The guest preacher kept mentioning the term "loyalty".. ironic considering today I have a definition essay due, topic being Loyalty. Anyways, I snatched an envelope and pencil from my grandmother's purse, and began to take notes.... here's what I ended up with....

-You can't just put God on the side & get him when he's convenient  because he is Lord!
-Don't have God over one way then all your other "Gods" (meaning activities/ focuses) somewhere else... to be loyal to the Lord he needs to be the fundamental foundation of your world. You cannot call on him only when the going gets tough, because he might just "get going" and treat you as you did him
-Will anyone confuse your life with the life of Jesus? Be imitators of the Lord. 
-Check out the book, "The Almost Christian" (author unknown)

Were these notes not valid points? If you can't be loyal to your Lord, how must you expect yourself to be loyal to the things He created? (the world, community, human beings, etc.) In my eyes, you can't. Call on God when you need him, he is here to save you. But also remember to thank him daily for all the many blessings you have received. No one's life is perfect nowadays but it could be a whole lot worse...

 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

I was hunting the perfect birthday present for my super athletic best friend. So of course I went to Etsy. Boom. Amy Lemoine's shop was an answer to my prayers. Not to mention a southern girls dream. I was seriously tempted to get them for myself instead of my bestie...

WIWW: Picture Day

Hooray! It's Wednesday. Wednesday's are great for two reasons: hump day (weeks half way over) and I get to participate in my favorite link up! Lindsey {The Pleated Poppy} must have ate her Wheaties's the day she mustered up this link up because it is genius! She, being a stay at home mom, needed some motivation to get dressed at least once a week. Lindsey noticed this whole concept truly motivated her, and made others notice her new self-presentation! I love this link up and I love showing you all what I really do wear every week! Hope you enjoy!

This outfit is what I wore yesterday to school, which happened to be picture day. All was going well until I walked out the front door... humidity- BAM! Hair goes limp. What was intentionally a curled under bob look, became a wavy, frizzy hot mess. Don't believe me? Look up "hot-mess" in the dictionary and there I will be...

If your mind set is anything like mine, you're probably thinking this outfit is also a hot mess. It isn't I promise. My dad stole my memory card out of my camera to put in the trail cameras (shaking my head) so I had to result to the good ole iPhone for my photos... Seems like everyone else takes fabulous cell phone shots. However, I hope you like this semi-casual outfit! It was super comfy and I did get compliments on it, which is always a plus. 

Help Wanted

I'm in the process of making myself an office! Woohoo: finally all my school and craft things can be together in one space! I have been scanning Pinterest and blogs to find some ways to inexpensively organize and accessorize my new work space?? Any ideas/ suggestions? Below is a photo of a few things I've already created!

The yarn garland came from Kate & Lauren's blogs! - thesmallthingsblog.com & frommygreydeskblog.com ! They used different color yarn, but because I only had one color, I added clips then attached photos!

The jar idea came from the Weddings section on Pinterest! I tied bailing twine around the jars for a little cuter look than just plan pencil cups!

The framed photo was just a quote I found on the Quotes tab on Pinterest. I printed and framed it- cheap and effortless!

Today, along with being Labor Day, is my beautiful best friend Ashton's birthday! This girl's picture should be in the dictionary beside the term "BFF!" Ashton has been through everything with me and has never failed to make me smile! Love you Ash!

Hi everyone! I'm Samantha and my home in the blog world is Hooah and Hiccups. From the title, you may be able to guess that I'm married to a soldier in the United States Army, as well as the mommy to a beautiful baby boy. I started blogging when my husband deployed to Afghanistan and I was keeping life "normal" on the home front. My blog covers everything from military life, to recipes, to mommy tips and stories, to how to remain calm and collected during the "hiccups" along the way.
